Protecting Your Deposit
Under the Residential Tenancies Act, landlords can deduct reasonable cleaning costs from your deposit if the property is not returned in a condition comparable to when you moved in (allowing for normal wear and tear). A professional end-of-tenancy clean with an itemised receipt is your best protection. If the landlord makes an unjustified deduction, you can dispute it through the Residential Tenancies Board (RTB).
