Why Work at Optus Glean?
Optus Glean is not a typical cleaning company. We are building a national cleaning and facilities management operation that treats every operative as a professional. We invest in our people because consistent, high-quality cleaning comes from trained, supported, and fairly paid staff — not from undercutting wages and hoping for the best.
When you join Optus Glean, you get:
- Full training from day one — no experience needed
- Garda vetting arranged and paid for by us
- Safe Pass certification provided where required
- Manual handling, COSHH, and infection control training
- All PPE and cleaning equipment provided
- Pay above the sectoral employment order (SEO) minimum rate
- Local assignments — we match you to sites near your home
- Flexible hours — early morning, daytime, evening, and weekend shifts available
- Career progression from operative to team leader, supervisor, and area manager
- A professional, documented working environment with clear expectations
Types of Roles
We recruit across five main role categories, each with a clear progression path:
Cleaning Operative
The foundation of our operation. Cleaning operatives deliver the daily, weekly, and periodic cleaning services that our clients rely on. You will follow site-specific cleaning specifications and method statements, use colour-coded cleaning systems, and maintain the quality standards that define Optus Glean. No experience required — full training provided.
Team Leader
Team leaders manage a small team of operatives on a specific site or group of sites. You will conduct quality checks, manage rotas, handle client communication, and ensure compliance with method statements. Team leader roles are typically filled by promoting experienced operatives who demonstrate leadership ability.
Site Supervisor
Site supervisors are responsible for larger or more complex sites, including healthcare facilities, hotels, and multi-floor office buildings. You will manage multiple teams, conduct formal quality audits, produce client reports, and liaise with facilities managers and procurement teams.
Area Manager
Area managers oversee all operations within a geographic region, managing multiple site supervisors and teams. You will handle contract performance, client relationships, recruitment, training, and P&L responsibility for your area. Area manager roles require significant experience in cleaning or facilities management.
Specialist Cleaner
Specialist cleaners deliver services that require additional training and certification, including healthcare and clinical cleaning (HIQA IPC-compliant), industrial cleaning, post-construction cleaning, and deep cleaning. Specialist roles attract higher pay rates and are suited to experienced operatives or those with backgrounds in healthcare, construction, or industrial environments.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need experience?
No previous cleaning experience is required. We provide full training to all new operatives, including manual handling, COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health), colour-coded cleaning systems, and site-specific method statements. What we look for is reliability, attention to detail, and a professional attitude. If you have experience in cleaning, healthcare, hospitality, or facilities management, that is a bonus — but it is not essential.
Is Garda vetting required?
Yes. All Optus Glean operatives are Garda vetted through the National Vetting Bureau before commencing work on any client site. This is a mandatory requirement, particularly for operatives working in healthcare, education, and residential settings. Optus Glean manages the vetting application process and covers the cost. The vetting process typically takes 2 to 4 weeks.
What training is provided?
All operatives receive comprehensive induction training before their first shift, covering health and safety, manual handling, COSHH awareness, colour-coded cleaning systems, infection prevention and control, and site-specific cleaning specifications. Safe Pass certification is provided where required. Ongoing training includes toolbox talks, refresher courses, and specialist training for healthcare, industrial, and high-risk environments.
What hours are available?
We offer flexible working hours to suit a range of schedules. Shifts are available early morning, daytime, evening, and weekend depending on the client site and contract requirements. Many of our cleaning contracts operate outside standard business hours (typically 6am to 8am or 6pm to 10pm), though daytime cleaning roles are also available in healthcare, retail, and hospitality environments. Part-time and full-time positions are available.
How much do cleaning jobs pay in Ireland?
Optus Glean pays above the sectoral employment order (SEO) minimum rate for the contract cleaning industry. As of 2026, the SEO minimum hourly rate for contract cleaning operatives in Ireland is €13.15, with higher rates for supervisory and specialist roles. Optus Glean pays above these minimums to attract and retain experienced, reliable operatives. Exact rates depend on the role, location, and shift pattern. We are transparent about pay rates during the application process.
